Talk:Installation
From Relay
Sweet install process, you should tell people that they have to create a database then run the installer, after that then everything works great if you are logged in as the admin user but if you log in as a user they can not upload anything.
While testing on a Win/PC, any file upload fails with the message "cancelled", no progress bar shown. Not sure if the upload.pl file is the cause. I changed the first line to #! ./perl.
[edit] Still can't install!
Tried everything but still keep getting the can't create the config file error.
Has anyone succesfully installed this on a cpanel based shared hosting account?
At one point i actually got a config file, but it won't accept my username/password.
I can be reached at doug at 1011productions dot com if u have any questions or might be able to offer some installation assistance. Dying to get this to work!
[edit] upload.pl problem:::::: Undefined subroutine &main::bye_bye called at upload.pl line 41
was getting the error with the upload.pl so i ran it through manually and got:
Undefined subroutine &main::bye_bye called at upload.pl line 41.
Any ideas?
====== I am getting this same ERROR.... Undefined subroutine &main::bye_bye called at upload.pl line 41.
Please help!!!
====== I don't know what's wrong with the Perl, but I can solve it
The permissions on the tmp directory are wrong. You need to relax the permissions on it, e.g. 755.
[edit] Anyone Have Any Ideas with this error!
12/18/2006 Just checking in, I can't believe no one has any ideas. The guy below this message is having the same problem. What's the deal? Does anyone have this working?
9/22/2006 Still the same problem? Is there anyone using this thing that can help me?
Database Connected.... done Dropping tables if the exist...done Creating tables
- relay_clients...You have an error in your SQL syntax near '; ' at line 9 could not create the table clients
7/24/2006 Well we've got another program that is half @ss! Lets put all this time into what could be a great product to BUY, and then just drop it and not help develop fixes, patches, updates, bug solutions, etc.
7/20/2006 Wow, still no response! Looks like relay has taken a dive on my list. I guess I'm going to continue my search for something people are willing to help fix.
7/16/2006 So far I'm not very impressed with the amount of data given to install this thing. Putting that the installation should be very straight forward isn't too appealing.
This is the error I'm receiving when trying to install this.
Database Connected.... done Dropping tables if the exist...done Creating tables
- relay_clients...You have an error in your SQL syntax near '; ' at line 9 could not create the table clients
8/20/2006 Trying to troubleshoot this error I think it is either because I have just MySQL v3.23 not v4.0+, or because of a permissions issue that I'm not clever enough to solve.
11/08/2008 Database Connected....done Dropping tables if the exist...done Creating tables
- db_clients...Specified key was too long; max key length is 1000 bytes could not create the table clients (any ideas?)
[edit] this is what i get ?
i cant get this to work. Given im a real novice to this i dont know what to do or where to look. I have read throught the wiki and am at a loss?

You may also need to change the 1st line to reflect the path to your perl installation, or in iis map the .pl extension to the perl executable. You may need to enable mod_cgi for .pl files. Look at the Relay Wiki on this topic for more troupshooting.

[edit] Installation Success
I had to make sure there was an htaccess file in the same directory as the relay installation. Here are a list of dirs and files once the install was done and I was able to log in:
